I made available another experimental spkg of Mayavi2 as part of ETS-3.1.1
in trac ticket #4881 waiting for a positive review.

And I made a paraview-3.4.0.spkg (linux only for now). I have it working on
Fedora 9 and 10, and Ubuntu-8.10. See my other message in this thread.

I will not do a visit package, because of the dependencies: visit wants
special versions of vtk, Qt, etcetera.

What I miss in paraview is equivalent of the mlab module from mayavi2,
see screenshots:
http://picasaweb.google.com/j.spies88/ScreenshotsMlabMayavi210#
and the manual:
http://code.enthought.com/projects/mayavi/docs/development/html/mayavi/mlab.html

[...]

What I like in paraview is the scalability: running pvservers on
sage|geom|boxen.math is a challenge!

If you set your PYTHONPATH appropriately you already can do this.
