Thanks everybody for the feedback. I've updated the slides accordingly taking into account all your suggestions. By the way, I made the talk by screenshotting each thing that looked like a "slide" in a Sage notebook, then dragging and dropping all those images into Keynote, then exporting to ppt and pdf. It's sort of a weird path to make a talk, but actually worked well. (The only problem was that I had instead tried using PowerPoint 2008 instead of Keynote and it crashed every other time I tried to save; I guess PowerPoint for OS X is far less robust than PowerPoint for Windows...) I do very much wonder if there is a way that we could add some markers (or just <hr>'s) to a sage notebook, then somehow automate the process of turning the resulting sequence of "slides" into a static pdf or ppt presentation (one can always alt-tab to the live notebook when needed). This might involve some sort of "screenshot plugin" for firefox or some sort of api for rendering a web page to a png...
