The irony of what I just suggested just occurred to me.   We *HAVE* to
put an empty README.txt up!  Just because it is possible to upgrade
4.0.1.rc0 to newer versions doesn't fix anything.  We have to be able
to upgrade from old versions.

I've put an empty README.txt at the above URL, so upgrade should work.

Mike Hansen -- please remember that we must have that README.txt in
the official rc1 release and official final 4.0.1 release.
