I'm 100% completely stumped by why Maxima won't build for you on
bsd.math.  Sorry.  Fortunately, i tried typing

touch spkg/installed/maxima-5.16.3.p2

then the rest of the sage build worked fine.  See

       /Users/Prabhu/build/sage-4.1.rc1

Sage doesn't use Maxima much anymore, so not having Maxima shouldn't
be a big problem for what you're doing.  It will cause trouble if you
try to compute a symbolic integral though.
