We had a long standing problem in both Gentoo and Mandriva with the following test sage -t -force_lib "devel/sage/sage/combinat/iet/strata.py" which is failing for us using the system python shipped with our distributions. As it turns out it is because the python shipped in our system includes the patch solving: http://bugs.python.org/issue7491 The patches have been merged in 2.6.5 and 2.7 and they are included in python-2.6.4 shipped by a number of distros.
This is a friendly warning that it will be an issue for the next python upgrade.
