Hi group, just a quick note that building sage-4.7.1 from source on a
fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 fails with this in the end of the log:

ImportError: No module named crypt

/usr/bin/dpkg
You may have to install 'dpkg-architecture'
which is part of the Debian package 'dpkg-dev'.
Try installing it by typing
sudo apt-get install dpkg-dev
and rerun 'make'.

Please email sage-devel http://groups.google.com/group/sage-devel
explaining the problem and send the relevant part of
of /home/amusselman/Applications/sage-4.7.1/install.log. Describe
your computer, operating system, etc.
If you want to try to fix the problem yourself, *don't* just cd to
/home/amusselman/Applications/sage-4.7.1/spkg/build/python-2.6.4.p11
and type 'make check' or whatever is appropriate.
Instead, the following commands setup all environment variables
correctly and load a subshell for you to debug the error:
(cd '/home/amusselman/Applications/sage-4.7.1/spkg/build/
python-2.6.4.p11' && '/home/amusselman/Applications/sage-4.7.1/sage' -
sh)
When you are done debugging, you can type "exit" to leave the
subshell.
make[1]: *** [installed/python-2.6.4.p11] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/amusselman/Applications/sage-4.7.1/
spkg'
