Is there any hope of compiling sage for android? or the only way to
have sage running on a tablet would be to install a linux system on
top of the android one?

That is a very good question.

For a big phone (the marketing name is "smartphone"), there is definitely not enough room to compile on the host (ram), but there might be enough power to run it if put on an SD-Card (disk)... after all the now-shipping top-of-the-line phones have probably more muscles than the AC100!

For a recent tablet, there is more room so that is less an issue ; the question is more about accessing a shell, and having the necessary dependencies -- which are few.

Of course, things would look brighter if it was easier to share binary packages, if it was easier to use already-there components and/or if it was easier to cross-compile...

The AC100 shipped with an android install, but I think I kicked it out... or it's not bootable anymore ; in any case that wasn't good enough.

Who has an interesting device and the skills?
