Perhaps it would solve the problem with Latex on my IBM server. I'm
not really that bothered, as I don't intend to use this as a Sage
server - it is for running a bit of brain-dead commerical software.

But I think the more important thing is that I feel we should be able
to have a test for this, and indicate the documentation has not built
properly. I'm not able to write such a test myself, but if anyone
wants to try, I can give them access to the machine.

I also realize this is an old system, but personally I think if we
could detect the problem, it would be worth doing.
