I am not here to defend Mathematica, but it seems that the result is actually right, simply in another form:

sage: f(x) = sin(x)*tan(x)^2+2*sin(x)
sage: g(x) = sec(x)*tan(x)+sin(x)
sage: bool(f(x) == g(x))
True
