I don't really use OSX but afaik the preferred way is to let apps just run 
from any directory, including inside an auto-mounted dmg. 

Its not that difficult, just rewrite the rpaths to relative when creating 
the binary. I played around with it a little bit but didn't have time to 
finish anything....
