I'm probably in the stone age, and possibly suffer from a catastrophe
bias, but a few years ago, my Sage builds would often fail when I added
"-j4". I don't remember whether doc-building was often the culprit or
not. Anyway, I never consistently started to use it. I take it that
everyone else does, so I should as well.

Is the pdf compilation very important? Isn't everyone using the HTML one
anyway? 40 HTML pages/second is not impressive. But as I said, probably
it would help a lot if just the incremental building was more robust.
