I'll admit that I cannot check that right now. In fact I am not sure
if I get "git" from the OS, from xcode or the github desktop app.

I would advise anyone deploying a sage binary on OS X to get xcode
nonetheless - sage can compile stuff and just shipping gcc may not
be enough in some cases.
And if we really get clang going on OS X, that may become a requirement.
