Aaarghh.. You might as well use bool(x.imag_part()==0), or some contraption 
testing x.maxima_methogs().carg() against 0 modulo 2*pi. I used the first 
one a few times, with some success. The second one might come in handy if 
the expression to be tested has a "nice" argument.
