The Sage way is to create a patch in build/pkgs/mpir/patches which removes said file(s).
You can also untar the tarball in upstream/, remove files, tar it up again, run ./sage --package fix-checksum And then rebuild the package with ./sage -f mpir Please feel free to open a trac ticket on this.
