We can use any library that is under a gpl-compatible license. If there is 
anything desirable out there we should definitely make use of it. I guess 
you have something in particular in mind?

We don't have a particular minimum API that is set in stone. Something that 
is reasonable, not just the latest and greatest but also don't waste time 
on ancient versions.
