well, perhaps Debian people can comment. We had a great rush with 8.7 to meet a Debian deadline, it's be a pity if it was not really useful.
IMHO there are ways to use Sage with the experimental packages enabled, but the details are a bit patchy. I cc to sage-packaging for Debian to comment.
