I found this problem on an unrelated setting (WSL2 on Windows). IMHO, *plot3d* and everything else in SageMath related to *Three.js* could benefit from some updating. Indeed, the option *online=True* should not be required as it implies an internet connection, while all necessary files are already in the local tree. Indeed! FWIW, the option online=True was not required in Sage 10.7 (at least on my system: Ubuntu 24.04), while it is in Sage 10.8.
