Do you mean something like     bool(x^6>-1)

Or you can use maxima inside sage and the command  is
http://maxima.sourceforge.net/docs/manual/en/maxima_5.html#Item_003a-is

I think that in general  you can expect poor results in any computer
algebra system (like you write about Maple).
