Dear All, I am not a software programmer. It is possible that this question is not rightly phrased. I use Maxima on a Ubuntu 9.04 i386 machine for symbolic computation tasks that arise in macroeconomics. I am given to understand that Maxima cannot exploit parallel computing at present while Sage can. I wish to know whether if i use Sage to run Maxima on a multicore computer (with a cpu such as AMD Phenom II X4 955 and related components that i shortly intend to set up) I will be able to gain in terms of computing speed with the parallel computing prowess of Sage.
