Re your reply regarding "Shared Folders": I have created a shared folder following instructions in the UserManual. (Devices -> Shared Folders -> Add shared folder). The shared folder (E:\sage-work) shows as a blue icon in the status bar of the virtual machine. But I am not able to see it in the file-system of the Sage virtual machine. How do I access it?
You said: What happens if you follow the instructions in the box in the upper > left when you startup the virtual machine? I.e., they say something > like "Open your windows web browser to http://192.168.1.50". There's > no :8000 there at all. I get no such message. (I used to in an older version of the Virtual Machine). Now, I am simply taken to the Desktop with icons on it. I ran the notebook the first time by opening the Mozilla browser and it worked (yes, from localhost:8000 (!) - I actually did some calculations). But on subsequent attempts, I get the "unable to connect" message. So, I looked up the IP address of the "Virtual-Box Host-only Network" in Windows' "Network Connections" (it is 192.168.56.1) and tried to connect, but got the same "Problem loading page". Thanks for your time (and a (slightly belated) Merry Christmas!)
