If you look in the source code slightly before where the class
UniqueFactory is defined you will see the following:
from sage_object cimport SageObject
cdef sage_version
from sage.version import version as sage_version
sage_version = sage_version.split('.')
for i in range(len(sage_version)):
try:
sage_version[i] = int(sage_version[i])
except ValueError:
pass
sage_version = tuple(sage_version)
cdef class UniqueFactory(SageObject):
So indeed it doens't expect version()
