Okay, I am glad I asked. It was killing me that I could not figure out what the issue was on my own.
So two things are still bothering me: 1) If I want to re-create the account, will I have to do it using an OpenID (I think the answer is "yes")? 2) How come I was able to create the account without using an OpenID? In other words, did the change to creating accounts exclusively through OpenID only take effect in the last week or so?
