It means that this is a problem. I just wanted to make this sure.

Are you compiling Sage on NFS-mounted (or Samba etc.) directory? If so, please test with local drive.

Also check that you have enought free space on disk. At least on Sage 4.x there was problem when system ran out of space: then it breaks something and Sage did not compile even after freeing space.
