Australian Dollar May Advance More in 2011, RBS Says
Jan 05, 2011 http://marketpin.blogspot.com/ The Australian dollar stands to gain this year as the biggest beneficiary of global economic growth and strong commodity prices, according to Robert Sinche, global head of currency strategy at Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc’s RBS Securities unit. “We’ve had a very accommodative monetary posture around the world, that’s been good for risk appetite, and certainly the Australian dollar has been a big beneficiary,” Sinche said on Bloomberg Television’s “Surveillance Midday” with Tom Keene. “It’s been good for growth and commodity prices and as long as those trends are in place, we think the Aussie dollar is the main beneficiary in the currency space.” The Australian currency fell 1.1 percent today to $1.0052 as record rainfall in the South Pacific nation has caused floods to spread across an area the size of France and Germany, forcing towns to be evacuated, closing mines and spoiling crops. The currency gained 14 percent in 2010 versus the greenback after a 28 percent gain in 2009. Sinche, who’s based in Stamford, Connecticut, said he expects potential for the Aussie to appreciate through the first half of the year. “At these levels, that upside is more in the 3 to 5 percent rather than 10 percent,” Sinche said. The currency may also be supported as Royal Bank of Scotland forecast Australia’s central bank will raise interest rates 1 percentage point in 2011, Sinche said. The Reserve Bank of Australia has raised the benchmark interest rate seven times since October 2009 to 4.75 percent. ------------------------------------ Kunjungi situs http://www.info-saham.com untuk informasi seputar saham.
