When they reached Sonarbhatt they stopped overnight and placed the statue in a makeshift chapel( which was later constructed at the junction of the road leading to Mr.Saldanhas' house ) and carried her from there to our Church where she is till date for the last 135 years . Every year we commemorate this by having a ' cerenade' - mass followed by candlelight procession to the church and back . This year the Cerenade Mass was held in the Church and lots of people attended. The next day -26th was the Feast of Consecration. Once again a belated Happy Feast to one and all . Huh! You do have a short memory! Werent you staying close to or opposite that small "chapel" where every year on November 26th a religious ceremony took place? (A.Peggy & others used to decorate etc.) & then the devotees of Mae De Deus made their way to the Church from that point (in a procession). Perhaps if you read Mel's book you will know about the celebration at that particular chapel on 26th November. Since 26th November, 2 Feasts have "arrived & departed" - Feast of St. Francis Xavier (3rd December), Feast of Our Lady (8th December). So Happy Feast once again to one & all (belated wishes).... "Goa-related" though not "Saligao-related". Have a good day. We worked just 2 days this week & we enjoyed the Eid Holidays. We will be working only 3 days next week. Lucky us!
