Just some news from Saligao: In Sonarbhat, we had a 14+ hour power-failure from Saturday evening around 7.30 pm till just before noon on Sunday! While the rest of the village seems to be better served by its transformers, ours seems to be suffering from repeated failures of late!
Mrs Isabella Vaz (Glenn/Noella/Leon/Joey/Vanessa/Warren's mum) mentioned pointed to an initiative to trap the return-monsoon this year. So the Sonarbhat fields have a little more water in them (we've had unseasonal rains) and this could help more water to percolate to the groundwater table. Oldtimers would remember that the Sonarbhat fields used to turn into a water catchment area once the monsoon crop was harvested in the past.... -- Frederick Noronha :: +91-832-2409490 Writing, editing, alt.publishing, photography, journalism Books from Goa: http://tiny.cc/goabooks --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ This message comes via the Google Groups "Saligao-Net" group.
