* * * *Centre for Deafblind to open in Saligao on* *June 14* A full-fledged Centre for Deafblind which will offer various facilities, including educational, vocational and therapeutic services, will be inaugurated at Tabra vaddo, Saligao on June 14 at 3.30 pm. The Centre has been supported by Sense International India and The Hans Foundation and those expected to attend the inaugural function include Consul General of Australia Tony Huber, the Hans Foundation Deputy Program Manager Kaveri Dixit, Sense International India Director Akhil Paul and Archbishop of Goa and Daman Most Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao, who will bless the premises. “Caritas Goa began the Deafblind project in 2012 and has covered six fruitful years of special services across Goa. Over the years, services have been provided to over 65 deafblind children and young adults, while expanding services to the multi-sensory impaired too,” said Fr Maverick Fernandes, Director, Caritas Goa. “The home-based services have been a regular feature, where functional activities like helping the children to overcome their daily challenges, communication skills through sign language, vocational and educational training programmes were covered through several activities.” “Much of our services were successful due to the active support of several stakeholders.
