AN APPEAL The NSS unit of Our Lady of Rosary Hr. Sec. Dona Paula, (an all girls school), will be conducting their annual NSS camp at the Saligao Seminary, from the 19th to 28th Oct. 2003. The main task of the camp will be the continuing of the work done on the rainwater harvesting system on the hills above the village. This work will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sachin Tendulkar, an expert on rainwater harvesting, and also some members of the Saligao Consumer and Civic Cell.
Even though 80 girls will be attending the camp, if left to them, the quantum of work will be little, since hard labour is called for, which is not possible for them. A suggestion has been put forth, to hire a number of laborers to assist the girls in the digging. The girls could then do the lighter work of clearing the rubble and transporting it to the desired sites. The school cannot be expected to pay for the laborers, and it is up to the villagers of Saligao the main beneficiaries, to bear the expenses. The benefits of this camp will be long lasting and shared by all Saligaonkars. Therefore, this petition is going around for the purpose of raising the necessary funds from the Saligao people, for the hiring of the laborers. Please donate generously for the same.
