July 16, Saligao News: --Serula Communidade elections on September 16. The elections for the Communidade, as per the Code of Comunidades are conducted in the month of December. However, due to the postponement of the election of the Comunidade de Serula it would now be held in September as per the High Court order, the minister stated, pointing out that the voters list would be prepared as per the High Court guidelines. Dr. Wilfred de Souza( Saligao MLA) took a strong objection to the decision about entrusting the responsibility of preparation of the new voters list to the same agency which had come out with the fraudulent list( Courtesy-The Navhind Times) and ‘opined that the government should appoint an independent administrator so as to avoid repetition of the irregularities’( Courtesy , Herald.) In the elections held of Saligao Communidade last December,2003, Architect Dean D”Cruz from Salmona was chosen as the President of the Communidade de Saligao . ---Government finds no takers for posts of doctors in DHS( Directorate of Health Services) according to Health Minister, Dr. Suresh Amonkar. Chief Minister Parrikar said the Government obtained Rs.55 lakh revenue on sale of entry tickets to casinos during the last five months, in addition to the annual licensing fees. An Association of Our Lady of Carmel was erected in Saligao Church through Decree No. 556 of 20-3-1956. Many of us formed part of this association and wear the Scapular.
