7th April 2005 Press Conference Dear members of the Press and electronic media on Saligaonet, The Salmona Pariyavaran Manch, Saligao Civic & Consumer Cell and Nisarga Nature Club will hold a joint Press Conference: Date: Friday, 8 April 2005. The latest positions and handouts on the people's struggle to save Saligao's world-famous Salmona Spring will be given out at the Press Conference. These will include: - a copy of the latest petition to the Governor of Goa signed by 1089 Saligaokars, on 1 April 2005. - the latest position of the government's acquisition proceedings concerning the Salmon Spring. - the Tourism Department and Forest Department's plans for the Spring. - Saligao villagers' conservation plans for the acquired area.
