Hi all, Our emotions might have unintentionally got the better of us, and so we seem to be using angry words which we might not use in a face-to-face meeting. To avoid the situation getting worse, I am placing SaligaoNet under 'emergency moderation' -- the technical tool adopted whenever a 'flame war' errupts on a list.
Please keep your posts polite, and make your point in kind words. While we have the right to say what we feel, we also have limits and restrictions on the manner in which we make our point. In an online world, it's even more easy to misunderstand each other and our intentions. As far as voluntary intiatives go, feel free to support any cause you wish, or to circulate appeals via Saligaonet. Kindly note that Saligaonet doesn't support any ventures as a group, but is only a forum through which we pass the word around. Those who would like to support any particular initiative may do it off-line, and directly with the person(s) concerned. Those planning such initiatives, please see the possible unintended consequences and misunderstandings that could emerge from communication gaps. If you think it's not a good idea, you have the option of not supporting it. Ideally, avoid raising a controversy ... given that we all have our own strong views, there will be tonnes we can debate, and never achieve anything at all. If you have to make a critical point, do it politely please :-) We do need more networks to create understanding ... to create bad-blood we already have many :-) It's going to be the festive season soon, so let's spread some of that spirit (not the commercialised part of it!) instead.
