PARISH HAPPENINGS [From the Mother's Call/Maiecho Ulo bulletin, Dec 2007]
02 Nov. 07: It was a day to remember all the departed brothers and sisters. The parishioners gathered together in the church as well as the cemetery praying for their dear ones. All the masses were well organized, especially the mass in the cemetery. There is always the communion between the living and the dead praying for each other. 04 Nov. 07: All the eight parishes of the Calangute Deanery met at Reis Magos to celebrate the 'Deanery Youth Day'. Nearly hundred youth from our Deanery participated and it was a thrilling experience for everyone. Fr. Bismark was the main speaker of the Day. Besides, Dr. Roshan and Mr. Mark Lobo gave testimony about their life and career. Fr. Arlino D'Mello was the main celebrant while Fr. Carlisto and Fr. Bismark con-celebrated. The parishes took unto them the various responsibilities in organizing the whole day's event. The Saligao Parish was given the responsibility of organizing the Liturgy and they did it so well, especially the choir sang so well that they were praised for their wonderful voices and they kept the whole congregation in a prayerful spirit. The Deanery Youth Day was a grand success and we thank all those who helped us to organize the event so well. 18 Nov. 07: The various SSVP conferences under the Area Council had a half day recollection. The recollection began at l0.00am and winded up by 1.O0pm. More than 20 members from the various conferences, the old and the young attended the recollection. Fr. Carlisto and Fr. Simon Femandes gave the talks. It was a spiritual experience for all those who I attended. 23rd Nov. 07: The Tridum to celebrate our Parish Consecration Day began. As usual the three chapels took the responsibility to organize the liturgy on the three respective days. Fr. Leonard Pegado was the preacher for the Tridum and he gave a small mission on the "Small Christian Conirnunity". People attended in large number for the three days preparation. The liturgy was well organized. The whole parish appreciate the efforts of all those who worked hard. 24 Nov. 07: The 'Tradition Fete Z007' began with a bang. The fete was held for three days and the response was overwhelming. The stalls, food, stage prograrnmes, the decor, music, sound and everything else was fabulous. Unfortunately we could not get the rides but still everyone at the fete had lots of fun. The Parish Youth who took the responsibility of organizing the stage programmes had a few new concepts during this fete, like the Rose Queen and the Chocolate King. Everyone at the fete worked so hard and everything was well organized. A million thanks to the PPC, the PAT, the SCCs, the various associations and the Parish Youth for making the event a grand success. God bless you and your efforts. abundantly. 26 Nov. 07: The Parish Consecration Day was celebrated with great devotion and pomp. The day was marked with the whole day adoration to the Blessed Sacrament. The various wards and association paid their visits in large numbers. The Solemn Mass began at 5.00 pm and the main celebrant was Fr. Emidio Pinto, Parish Priest of Guirim. Fr. Carlisto, Fr. Venancio, Fr. Avinash, Fr. Casmiro and Fr. Nascimento concelebrated at the mass. The theme was based on the SCC and the Word of God. After the mass there was the solemn procession followed by the prayer of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The liturgy, choir, altar decoration and everything else was well done and organized.
