(in IE6 the image looks very small, however if you hover over image with the
mouse and when icon in lower right shows up click on image to hold the icon
on the screen, then click on the icon to get a bigger size image.)
The way the dev looks now, I think a beta before the end of this year is
really possible.
To give some ideas on what is different in v4:
* main GUI (as you can see on the screenshot)
* new SETUP GUI
* dependency can be set via the ADD/EDIT screen or via drag & drop in the
main screen
* grouping of entries (can be set via ADD/EDIT screen or via drag & drop in
the main screen)
(Thanks Mark for the idea about the drag & drop)
* new alerting engine that gives much more options
* new alerts (ICQ - MSN - SNPP - SEND TRAP - ..)
* winsock (tcp/udp) checks no longer port based, but protocol based
(in the past an SMTP check was always a check on port 25 for the smtp
protocol)
now you can define you own protocols and select on what port you want
them, so an SMTP check will check the SMTP protocol on whatever port
(default is of course 25)
* support for 2 proxy servers
* schedule per 15 minutes (instead of per hour) for entry check and for
people's schedule
* people schedule can now have different email/pager/ICQ/... addresses with
different schedules.
* entry can be on more then 2 HTML pages
* enhanced HTML templates
* built-in SSH server (with same possibilities as the telnet server)
* trap receiver (traps received can be shown on the HTML pages)
* more different DNS/Radius possible
* new external check (COM based)
and probably more, but this is what I can think of now :-)
