Don't see this as "writting you off". In the mean time we did a lot of testing and trying to find the reason of the problem. One of the things we could already find was that is some cases the TCP check left connections open and this could cause problems with all tcp based checks (so also the URL for example). Also we can't devoted 100% of our time to that one problem. Currently there are 2 reports of a similar problem. In both case we see the OUT OF BUFFER SPACE/NO BUFFER SPACE error and the 1231 error. I'm not sure if they are somehow related. What I could see from the log of Brent was that the 1231 occured and that the BUFFER error didn't occure in the next check. It tooks 3 or 4 more cycle before the BUFFER error also was visible. What I would need to be able to troubleshoot this "correctly" is logs logs and logs... Also a NETSTAT when the problem occures can also help (aspecialy to see if a lot of connection are open or not). Also IF the 1231 error and the BUFFER are "linked" then a good test might be to run the checks for a while (meaning the time it normaly takes to get the problem) without the diskspace/service/... checks that cause/show the initial 1231. Also from the logs it would be good to know if the 1231 always starts on the same entry or does it change? If it changes, is it always a diskspace/service/...

Well no not really, but it's great that I'm not the only one continuing to have this problem. After the thread died down a couple of weeks ago, I continued to experience the same problems. I wrote Dirk, but it sounded like he was writing me off. So it's good to know the the Great Mr. Ozar is having the same problem, and it's not something i'm doing. I running 1352, but I'm upgrading to latest as soon as I hit send. >>> Brent Ozar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 04/04/03 05:17AM >>> Just got the problem we'd discussed on the list a couple/few weeks ago where SA stops working after a few days. This was the first time since that I've been running the same build of ServersAlive continuously for 3 days straight. The debugging log for this morning is on http://www.brentozar.com/samples/salog.zip (it's about 300kb). Since yesterday, these two URL checks have been failing (correctly) because a sysadmin changed the web server configuration: http://images.fisacure.com/cronus/uraid1/status.htm http://images.fisacure.com/images2/images2/status.htm I haven't had the time to look too deeply at the logs yet, because I'm out of town, but I'll check when I get back tomorrow. I'm running 1381. Brent -- BrentO Famous Last Words: Nothing ever happens on the first level.
