All checks that are internal and are using some DLL could eventualy hang IF the DLL isn't using it's timeout's correctly. (already the first issue is IF the dll knows what a timeout is). One option is to re-write all checks as external checks, but personaly I don't think that's a good way to go.
I don't see any "easy" way around this. What must be said is that this is something that isn't happing a lot at all. To my knowledge it's the 3rd or the 4th time that I hear of similar problems. (once with the Oracle check and 3 times with the nT services that are hanging - were the services applet of the OS was hanging too :-)) dirk. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Roland Gaspar Sent: Mon Sep 15 10:40 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [SA-list] Suggestion for Oracle Listener half-open hangs I just had this happen again and thought to myself "now,, if the oracle check was an external ap, SA would not hang in these conditions"... any thoughts Dirk? ________________________ Roland Gaspar Tel.: (514) 398-7880 xt 8603 To unsubscribe from a list, send a mail message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] With the following in the body of the message: unsubscribe SAlive To unsubscribe from a list, send a mail message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] With the following in the body of the message: unsubscribe SAlive
