Dirk, If your question is "how do I tell graph to use a certain RRA", the answer is: you don't.

The DEF call automatically chooses an RRA which contains CF consolidated data in a resolution appropriate for the size of the graph to be drawn. This means that you just give the start and end time of the graph and RRDtool will figure out which RRA to use.
