First a BIG remark. Don't send messages to the list with a READ RECEIPT.

Then can you explain the link between the pulling of the cable and the DUN
and the testing?

It works when I use the "Test it" button on the SETUP page for alternate
SMTP alert. It does not work when I pull the LAN cable from the SA box
and let it run through its check naturally.

Thanks,

If you test it works you said, when you test is that with or without the
LAN cable?

It is set to "Use default gateway on remote network."

How is the gateway set for the DUN entry?

Subject: [SA-list] Using dial up as alternate SMTP alert

I am having a problem using a dial up connection for the alternate SMTP
alert.

I am trying to set up SA so that if our Exchange server goes offline, SA
will then failover to the Alternate dialup account to send an alert
through it.

When I use the Test It button it works fine. Bur when I test it by
unplugging the LAN cable from the SA machine, the modem dials and
disconnects but never sends the alert. I get the error in the logs
"10065No route to host"

I have also changed the SMTP timeout to 30 seconds with no luck.

Anybody??

Thanks,
Bret
