The reboot did indeed cure the problem.  If it returns, what would I need to look at to resolve this other than a reboot ?

Change in what?
Still sees no counters?  Well if the problem is related to the regsvc.exe file then you need to restart the system with that regsvc.Exe file too.

I have installed the latest beta and rebooted the server.  There is still no change.

Restart the system :-)

The version on beta.woodstone.nu does the perfmon checks differently and works around a bug in the regsvc.exe file.  The bug in the regsvc.exe file (part of the OS) causes it to use more and more memory.
I wouldn't be surprised that this also causes the problems you're seeing.

So using this new version (of SA that works around the bug in regsvc.exe) could solve your problem too.

I haven't really checked that before so I am unsure.  It does look quite high though.  Is there a way to bring the usage down a bit ?

Check the memory use of the regsvc.exe file on those remote systems when SA fails to find the elments.
If that usage very high?

I find its mainly against various remote systems.  There isn't really a pattern.

Do you get this towards the same remote system all the time or towards all remote systems you're monitoring?

Subject: [SA-list] Performance Counter Problems

I have an issue currently whereby, I have setup several performance counter checks.  They all work fine for a day or 2 and then all of a sudden they will stop and generate "Element not found" errors.

When these errors are encountered, I attempt to delete and re-create the check, but I find that when trying to select the counters I want to monitor, they are no longer available.  All I get is a blank list where the performance counters would usually be.

Any Thoughts ?
