SA did execute the command and didn't get any errors back from the API we're using the execute the command, this means that from a programming point of view the command was running. This is however no a "proove" that the command as such did do what you exepected it to do. Didn't you say before that when replacing it with NOTEPAD.EXE it worked fine? For me this is the proof that SA did execute the command but that the OS didn't do what you expected. Probably due to the securitycontext in which SA is running. Did you try running SA as an applicationn, and what was the result for that command?

When it shows path not found or file not found, then it seems logical that it can't be executed. As for those were nothing is within the logfile, I can only presume that this means that the alert didn't fire because it didn't meet the conditions.
