Only reason I can see for it would be an issue with the video driver.
On my own system I'm also using 32 bits colors and I see the icon perfectly.

Yeah, that pic was taken whilst logged on at the workstation.

Strangely enough, I'm *now* remote-controlling it, and I can see the
Yellow/Orange (sun?) icon. I'll see if when I get into work it's OK or still
black.
