Other than snubbing Servers Alive (the best monitoring product hands down),
here are my "top 10" things that seemed a little weird about the survey:

10: Backup Exec is shown as Veritas, when it is now Symantec.
9: Under UPS's - APC isn't included. Aren't they the biggest UPS
manufacturer in the world?
8: Lotus Notes is not listed under E-mail servers.
7: At least 3 categories only have ONE candidate. Glad to see this isn't
biased! I wonder who will win...
6: Blades, servers somehow forgot about big blue. We don't use IBM here,
but I know that these servers are everywhere.
5: Laptops and Tablets didn't include Toshiba. I'm not sure if they are the
biggest vendor in this space but they have to be in the top 3.
4: Under PDA's, Blackberry isn't listed - when they are the best game in
town for integration into networks (and we tested several).
3: HP is not shown under Switches. Very strange as I've seen them
everywhere on networks I'd worked on, and we have standardized on them
including a L3 switch at our backbone.
2: Symantec is not listed under antivirus - they must be at least as big as
every other vendor combined in that area!
1: Under Desktops, the ONLY vendor listed is Gateway! This one floored me
as you would think they would at least include HP, IBM and Dell!

Honorable mentions:
D-link not shown as a wireless vendor (but Linksys was)
Startech not shown as a KVM vendor
Desktop firewall - no ZoneAlarm Pro
Number of backup questions seemed unusually large
Winzip not listed in file compression tools

I'd like to say I'm glad I wasted half a day taking that clearly biased and
somewhat ridiculous survey.

Yep... I'd like to say that...

Last year it was a strange category, this year SA isn't even included. What
does it take to get a little respect from them?

Windows IT Pro Magazine started their 2005 Readers' Choice awards voting and
it continues through May 2nd, 2005. To vote, you must have a Windows IT Pro
registered user or subscriber account.
Registered user accounts are free and require only a valid e-mail address.

It would be great if you could vote for Servers Alive.
For some "strange" reason were not within the their pre-defined list,
however you can always vote for another software. I would suggest to do this
:-) Category : Systems Management - Monitoring and Alerting Software

Thank you.

Dirk.
