Do you get any error message? The reason for asking is that I use to experience something similar on my Win 2003 with SA Enterprise ver 5.0.1748.
I use to get an error message "Object variable or With block variable not set ( 91)" . In the logs I get the following;
17 May 2005 21:07:40 Email Filter Receive Process on serverA
17 May 2005 21:07:42 ERR process check: Object variable or With block variable not set ( 91)
17 May 2005 21:07:42 NT Process check of STEMRCV on serverA failed
With snmp checks I get the following errors;
17 May 2005 21:07:21 ERR: SNMPv3Get error ( 0- 20302-Timeout.)
17 May 2005 21:07:21 ERR : SNMPCheck (10.10.0.1- ERR: SNMPv3Get error ( 0- 20302-Timeout.) ( 0 - )

but SA doesn't actually stop. What happens is anytime I log off the Win 2003 server running SA most of my process/service checks fail especially on my Lotus Domino servers. The temporary fix I have is to lock the machine.
The was a lot of correspondence (May 05) with Dirk but he said couldn't replicate problem with my host file I sent him.
