I don't see an Extra Field for when it's down. Am I missing something?

Does the EXTRA FIELD contain this message when it's down?  I don't think so.

Dirk.

Sure. Here's an entry for one of the servers:
General Tab:
Servername
Active
Keep connection live

Check Tab:
Ping or
Diskspace \\Servername\C$
Service Backup Exec
Second knock box checked

Alert Tab:
What: my email group's address
Subject: %p is %
Message: %p is %

When Tab:
When 1 times down
And when back up
When down the Extra info field should contain Alert! The server has less than 1GB of disk space remaining. Please check ASAP.

Schedule Tab:
Use alter schedule

This is same for all entries. If I take down a server for any reason I don't get an email with the exception of one and all it says is:
Servername is running

The other messages I get are
Servers Alive keep alive mail (servername)
Servers Alive stopped
Servers Alive started
This is a test message sent by Servers Alive

Neither of these messages display the message I entered under the When tab.

I have working email addresses added in the primary and alternate fields under the Setup options. I also have the Enable file logging box checked with the "Fixed name D:\Program Files\SAlive\Logs\SALog.txt listed but I don't see a \Logs folder or this file. Instead all I see are dated LG051216.log files.
Am I missing something here?

Your message is not clear at all.
Your talking about paging and mail.
you say "not consisten" and you also say that it's not paging, while the tests you're doing are mail.
So please re-explain in a way that it's clear what you're trying to do and how you''re trying to do it.

Dirk.

I stand corrected the service isn't running so I'm running in app mode. Now what ? I still can't get this thing to page me when a server goes down. This worked fine in the previous version.
Holiday weekend and I gotta get my alerts.
ANY responses are appreciated.

Can I ask what's meant by running the app & service? Are you referring to SA and saying that it should be ran on the server as both app and service?

And does it show that it's trying to send mail?

Running app and service at the same time will give problems.
Run OR the service OR the app, not both.

I tried to send over the log file but it failed. In a sentence the log files seem to show everything as failing.

What does the logfile show?
What exact version?

Subject: [SA-list] Servers Alive not alive at ALL!!!

Since upgrading to ver5 I no longer get consistent paging when servers go down. I log in and see orange and red alerts in the console. The only emails I get state:

Servers Alive stopped (SA servername)
Servers Alive Keep Alive mail (SA servername)

What gives? I've tested and confirmed that the emails listed as the Prmary & Alternates are working. The test email arrives in Outlook but nothing arrives when a server goes down. I have the options set to email when a server goes down and when it comes back up. These are the same for monitoring disk space, server pings, processes, and services. I expect this to happen and for the name of the server to be included in the email. Is there something I'm missing here?

ANY urgent responses are appreciated.
