Kevin - Good point, I've dropped the priority of the CPU checks to 7 (14 minutes) to see if that changes the character of the results. I suspect the results will remain bursty, just further time between them.
Dirk - That's what I figured, I just thought I would ask. I suspect that perfmon is doing its own averaging to get its number, hence the smoothness.
