1) Servers alive 2) AutoMate (http://www.networkautomation.com/automate/) 3) MSN IM, free 4) SAPI speech engine, see below Setup SA to send alert to MSN. Run MSN on you local PC. Setup AutoMate to catch text from MSN chat window and speak it via SAPI speech engine By default you`ll get few SAPI speech engines with M$ office, but to get really clear human-like voice you can try AT&T Natural Voices™ http://www.nextup.com/nvsamples.html After you complete everything your PC will tell you with human voice about problems... Here is an example how its work for me: http://mail.sysfx.com/msnalert-demo.wav Thats recorded version, original even better. Probably you can setup voice alerts on any IM, I havnt tested... You can also make it speak your language (non-engilsh). Do text search & replace in AutoMate, install non-english SAPI speach engine. This is not an advertisement! To get it work with $0 you can try: 1) Use free SA personal version 2) MSN is free 3) Google for free SAPI speech angines http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=free+SAPI+speech will be poor quality comparing to commercial products. 4) Search for MSN speech plugins, try Miranda with plugins, anything that could do text2speech. You can also ask Dirk to make able SA speak with SAPI engines.
