Also enable for the server you are monitoring. You should see failures somewhere in these logs which should help isolate the cause. If you need I can provide a wmi script which you can run which acts like an event log watcher agent. I have not seen this issue but I admit that the event log com check can be slow esp if remote logs are large or you have a lot of servers and or checks, hence my own wmi agents.
