It is important to understand that the 1460 is returned by the OS and not SA. Therefore the check timeout has little to do with this error since it is receiving a response for the check (even it that response is a timeout). This generally indicates a network problem or a problem on the remote server (usually the latter).

After restarting SA (application) a few times in an using Authentication before the check I can now get a 1460 error (this operation returned because the timeout period expired) back even with a huge timeout is specified. The failed check will come back long before the timeout is reached. ********************************************************* Iâm getting this error after rebuilding my SA box in a Win2k3 VM. I can see services and other checks but not Processes for some reason. The host check is an XP box and I can see the processes using other types of remote software. What have I forgotten?
