Looks like a W2K3 security issue. If you really want to run from that folder, you may have to give execute permissions to the user running Servers Alive on the tail.exe file. I have had to do so for the cmd.exe file, for example, so it will execute from Tasks.
You could also try this (or a variant, I haven't tested) directly from salive: cmd /c "C:\Program Files\salive\external\tail.exe" -20 \\machine\file |find /i "search" -----Original Message----- From: Servers Alive Discussion List [mailto:sal...@woodstone.nu] On Behalf Of Nico Schuijff (GarantiBank International NV) Sent: Friday, July 30, 2010 9:00 AM To: Servers Alive Discussion List Subject: RE: [SA-list] External check (Errorlevel) doesn't work with scripts I just found out that when I use tail.exe from the c:\windows\system32 directory, it doesn't work, I get the error "'tail.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." Even when I specify the full path. I have to copy it to another directory (like %programfiles%\salive\external) to use it. After that it works fine. Also, when I put the command directly in the check, like: "C:\Program Files\salive\external\tail.exe" -20 \\10.104.1.123\reuters\ofsrlog.unx |find /i "Previous transaction", it doesn't work, I heve to put the command in a batchfile and run that. Is this changed from 4.2 or does it have anything to do with Windows 2003 x64?
