Via the RULE BASED FILTERING you can stop the alert.(also part of the WHEN Tab)

I was wondering if there was a way to prevent SA from sending just this one
type of error message. I have looked at changing the WHEN rules but it does
not allow me to disable just this alert.

You can tweak the way alerts are send for each individual alert by editing the
alert and changing the WHEN rule

Sorry I was unable to get back to you sooner. I have checked and watched when
SA sends out these errors and have not seen the GUI show it as being down. I
suspect that it shows as being down for a split second then comes back up
before I see that it went down. Is there a way to stop SA from sending these
alerts?

If Second Knock is enabled then it will do the SK before sending out an alert.

Also the alert (for a down) can't be send if the GUI isn't showing the down, as
both get the status from the same internal var.

The second knock is turned on currently and it still sends these, I have not
seen SA show the entries as being down. The message it sends says it is down.

Would it send these out without a second knock to verify?

It should at least show the down just after the check (and until it's checked
as being up again). I did a test with a bad password or username and it does
show the down in the interface.

The bad password/username/private key *could* be due to a glitch in the
network. If this is something you get often I would suggest setting the second
knock option for this entry.

The entry in SA shows it as being up when I check it after getting an alert.
About 3 minutes later I get a message saying that it is up even though it never
showed that it was down. It doesn’t require me to do anything to get it
back up.

When you get the "error", you mean that SA does show the entry in the interface
as being UP, and still sends a mail for a down?

When you get the problem, does it solve itself or do you need to do "something"
in order to get it fixed?

I am assisting Courtney Kibbe with this.

The version of SA is Enterprise 6.2.2279 and the OS that the remote agent is
running on is Windows Server 2008 Standard.

What version of SA are you using?

On what OS is the remote Agent running?

We installed the remote agent on a server and it will check about three other
servers. Occasionally it will send out an e-mail with an error for each server
it is checking. The error is “ERROR: Invalid username or password
reported by server, or bad private key.” The SA console does not show
the servers are down. If the username or password were really invalid
wouldn’t the console show the serves are down? What can be done to
resolve this error?
