I had some troubles too when I started with SA (version 7) on Win2008R2
recently, until I changed my way of working.

This is how I do it now :

- Run SA as a service

o with credentials of a local administrator (a service account) on the
machines I want to monitor.

o that process does the checks.

- For editing the check list I start SA interactively

o with parameter /guionly ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Woodstone\Servers
Alive\serversalive.exe" /guionly)

o run it on the SA server

o use my own credentials (also local admin)

o after each change I have to save the entries file and stop/start the service

If I don't us the /guionly switch, both processes (service and interactive) use
the same entries files, which leads to corruption of that file.

I do not use the Remote Icon. I'm not suggesting that the Remote Icon is a bad
thing though (actually I never tested it - yet), but the method described above
works fine for me.

Kind regards,

Pieter

Unfortunatly there is no logging :-(

What I would suggest before you continue your tests is to update to the latest
beta build...there is a smallish change in the Remote Icon that can help ...

I just began some limited testing with Servers Alive as a service on 2008. The
remote icon however keeps disconnecting. I have the remote icon running
against the localhost. Is there some sort of log or something that I can
check to see why it keeps getting disconnected?
